Need Help on SUSE Linux 10 sp1

Hi Experts,

I had installed SUSE Linux 10sp1 OS. i want to Install apache tomcat 6.0.16 and java 1.6.
So please tell me SUSE Linux 10 sp1 will support these versions or not..... In built of this OS Contain Java 1.4

And

First time i am using Linux.. Please tell me how to set environmental variables for JAVA in this Linux version.

Unless you are prepared to manually install the software along with the required support files you probably won't be able to do this. The software that comes from Novell's updates is all you will get. It wasn't designed as a user upgradeable system. If you don't need the Novell support, use opensuse instead.
Is it server or desktop?
