problem setting up latest version of Firefox...?

    Hi,

I use Suse Linux 9.2 with kernel 2.6.8.
I downloaded the latest version of firefox which is -firefox-3.0.6.
I extracted it into its default directories using file-roller.

When I try to run it, this error msg is given :

./firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

What is it? where can i find that dreaded lib file ?

It might help that Suse Linux 9.2 has Firefox 1.0 preview release already installed in its /opt directory and latest version bzip file also extracts into /opt file creating dir named -firefox-

It is after extraction of 3.0.6 archive and trying to run firefox that I get the error given in the first post.

Just like firefox 3 will not run on Windows 9x, it's probably not going to run on SuSE 9.x. If you go trying to manually update the missing libraries, you're probably going to take a trip through dependency hell, and maybe break more than you fix.

I know we've said it several times now, but here it is again; if you want to run newer software, you're going to need to install a newer distro. I don't know what your computer has for RAM, but I know how to make SuSE 10 run on 128 MB (slowly). SuSE 11 really requires 384 before you can get anywhere.

An email client is much different then a web browser. They have different requirements. You will need at least the libpangocairo-1.0 library This may or may not run on 9.2 and may in turn need other libraries or newer versions of those libraries and they in turn may require other libraries or version etc.
