Opensuse version?
What version of openSUSE will work on an AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core processor, 6000+, 3.01 ghz, 2gb ram with Nvidia chipset and Nvidia 88oo GTS graphics. I tried 11.1 but it didn't work on installation it says YaST2 " valid metadata not found at specific URL(s) when I tried to boot from DVD. What version will work for my pc? Will it be able to play graphic intense games especially GTA IV?

Welcome to the forums!
Most of the latest releases should work fine.
You can check this HowTo for making sure you properly downloaded and burned the ISO file to disk:

11.1 should work fine. Be sure that the DVD image that you downloaded is correct. check the MD5 checksum with the published value.
When burning the image use the SLOWEST speed you can.

Your configurations is good to go.
But dont expect that every Windows game will run flawlessly on wine.
Though I'm able to run many. but not GTA IV.
