    Where is the kick start file of SuSe10 located?

    Look in /boot.

    vmlinuz* is the kernel, probably the "kick start" you're referring to.

    initrd* is the Linux image loaded into a sort of RAM disk which gets things up and running while the hard drives are being checked and mounted.
