In Suse, you must use OpenOffice 3 to open MS Office 2007 documents. If they are saved in the old /doc format, earlier versions or KOffice/Abiword/... will also open them.
Just tell Firefox to use OpenOffice to open doc or docx files. When it asks you what to do with the file, select "Open With". I don't know which program Suse has for PDF. Open a file in your disk to see which program it is and configure Firefox to use it(if it is not already default in Firefox)
