    [SOLVED] The Amarok xine Engine

Hello: I have done this before twice when I did it on two separate machines, but now on a third computer it does not seem to work. Heres what I did step by step.

    1. I went into YaST>Installation source>HTTP
    2. Server Name: ftp.uni-derlangen.de
    3. Directory was /pub/mirrors/packman/suse/10.2
    4. When the prompts came up for GNUPg key or something along the lines of that I selected "Import"
    5. After that I went into Software management.
    6. I selected amarok-xine, libxine1 and also installed win32codec

I direct Amarok to the location of me mp3 files but when I try to play them it claims that "The void engine cannot play mp3s" In the configure Amarok dialog there are no options to select engine for playback. Ive done this twice before without trouble until now and its driving me bananas.

Also when I went back into software management, the packages I installed were "protected"

    opensuse 10.2 x86_64 KDE 3.5

enable the Packman repository and install Amarok from there.
The default version of Amarok is crippled when it comes to mp3 due to legal reasons.
Also, ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok contains the log file, anything interesting in there?
    Code:
    cat ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/statusbar.log.0

Mike is correct. Try force updating your Amarok with the one that's on the packman server.

Alternatively, you can install a different player like VLC.
