    wireless card detected but cannot connect to a wireless network

    I have install it suse 11, and everything went well until the wireless thing is not working, my card is Broadcom BCM4318, I see my card on the network settings but I cannot configure the card, and also I cannot connect to a wireless network, can someone tell me what to do here, I am loosing my patient.....

    please go to the wireless section and read this sticky
    When you provide the information we can see if the firmware is installed that is needed. This firmware is not automatically installed by Suse because it is not open source.

    Do you have a wired connection? You need to download and install firmware for Broadcom cards, and even then, it's kind of hit or miss.

    Yes, you need firmware installed before the Broadcom wireless will work properly.

    If you go to the b43-Linux Wireless link that D-cat gave you, you will find a section about installing firmware. If you have a wired internet connection, Suse will install the firmware with this command.

    Problem sort it out, thanks a lot for your help guys, all i had to do is to extract the firmware and that's it, took me a bit of time to sort it out but now is working wonderul.... thanks again...
