    Flash and Firefox = no sound

    Hi, can somebody please help me here, I have no sound from youtube, myspace etc but amarok works fine. I am using all the lastest versions from either Packman or Suse repos (no videolan except libdvdcss) I have tried numerous ideas but nothing has worked for me

    To add, my last attempt at a fix was to cmd line
    Code:
    FIREFOX_DSP="aoss"
    also I'll add, amarok sound works but only when set to alsa or oss not autodetect or pulseaudio

    also also, have tried this out to check for problems Check your multimedia problem in ten steps - openSUSE Forums

    I had this problem with Gentoo numberous of times.
    There are a few things that can be it.
    It can be that Firefox or YouyrFlashplayer (Offical or Gnash?) is builded without Alsa Support.

    What I always do with Gentoo is rebuild the package. And hope it works. If it doesn't check if its the FlashPlayer or Firefox.

    And if you use the official try Gnash, I always think its way better.

    Hope that helps you a bit and gave you some Pointers

    Cheers,
    Robin

    Can't believe this is a persistent and ongoing problem that never seems to get fully resolved. You have my sympathy as I created this thread about the very same thing years ago. Even named the thread the same thing! If you haven't already, you might want to go through that thread and see if there is anything there that might help.
