shrinking root partition on suse 10.1
Hi all. Am using suse 10.1 and I have two partitions root / and swap. I want to shrink the size of my root partition so i can create another partition. When i use the partitioner through yast it says that the file system is mounted.How do I go about this. am i to enter single user mode or what. what are the commands to use.

Its not possible to resize mounted partitions. Use PartedMagic LiveCD to resize partition(s). Its one of the best partition manager.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

DC's recommendation is probably the easiest way to go. You can find good instructions for using it on their website, and on the LiveCD itself.
