    HP and their default logons

Hi I'm fairly new to this SuSe lark but I've sent away my laptop to a form of HP branch for a new motherboard and hard drive, and its come back, 'fixed', without a logon but with a root user which has an unknown password meaning i can't do a thing. Can't even create a new user cause that needs the root's password.
This is a bit of a wild shot but can anyone help at all? Otherwise its another call back to an Indian call-centre.
    Cheers

You should be able to reset the password.

note Suse uses Grub not LILO for a boot manager.
