    SuSe 11.1 not finding printer

    I have a hp officejet 6310 printer.
    I downloaded and installed hplip.
When I try print from OOwriter all I get is generic printer. When I try to print I get printer error (no error code) and nothing happens. I cannot find a way to add my printer to the printer selection. Also I don't know how to look in the print que or look for what is happening when I try to print. It seems that SuSe does not see a printer plugged into usb port.

Printer is plugged into usb port.
Logictec mouse is also plugged into usb port. Removing mouse does not change symptoms. Mouse is another problem which is after I get the printer problem resolved.
    Thanks
    michael

    Printer not recognized

    Printer: Officejet 6310

I downloaded hplip which is supposed to be the correct printer driver. I know it installed.

How do I install via Yast? I'm not sure whether in installed driver via Yast or not. I followed instruction from a link I found when searching for this driver.
