Messenger questions
Hi- I'm a newbie to linux (i wanted a much leaner OS for the old laptop that I use), and I have searched the forum for help but I haven't yet found the answers I seek.
I'm running SUSE 11/GNOME and I'm pretty disappointed with the features of Pidgin.
When I was a windows user I used video messaging through webcam with AIM, Yahoo, and MSN, and file transfer for all three. I've searched for a messenger client where I can use these features and it seems that I'm out of luck. As I used these features a lot, it's annoying that I don't have the ability anymore
So if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Thanks

Have you tried these?
aMSN - MSN
Gyachi - Yahoo
However aMSN/Gyachi doesnt support all features but most of them.
AIM have there own IM for linux, but its not that good.

Pidgin will let you connect to all major IM services as well as IRC. Kopete will also do the same but is for the KDE desktop
Edit: Sorry, just read your post properly and realised you want an alternative to Pidgin. Check out Kopete - it should install on Gnome okay and I prefer it to Pidgin personallyLinux User #453176

I'm linux newb also (but not pc newb) and couldn't work Amsn out. I d/l the programme but it isn't a complete programme like windows based ones. It said Ihad to create a library and something else and didn't know how to.
I then found my netbook had Gaim already installed. This works like msn regarding the instant messaging, but could not open a vid chat or send files (although the file I tried to send was a large file so it may not have liked it)
For text-chatting though it is good.
