yavp - Yet another VMware problem

I've installed OpenSuSE 11.1 as a guest system in a VMWare 6.0 workstation running on Windows XP. I'm using the VMNet0 (bridged network) interface, the guest can ping the host, and the host can ping the guest. I can't connect to guest from the host, telnet to port 25. The firewalls are disabled, I've disabled the default firewall in yast and the XP firewall.

I can connect to port 25 using the exterior address 192.168.240.25 from the guest.

The ip address of the host is: 192.168.240.5
The ip address of the guest is: 192.168.240.25

The interface that I'm bridging is an Intel 3945 wireless card, both the guest and the host can ping a third computer 192.168.240.6

Any thoughts as to where I should be looking to fix this issue would be warmly received.

Silly question: But you are sure that the telnet is listening on the appropriate IP address?

default port for telnet is 23, not 25, did you specifically set up telnet for port 25?

Thanks for looking at this, it was irksome.

Telnet/SMTP is operating on the appropriate address. I figured this one out last evening, but couldn't figure out how to post the resolution. McAfee anti-virus on the XP host was preventing the connection.
