Linus Server on a Windows Network
We have a Suse 11 Linux server with Samba, Squid and a few other applications running on it. Now being a proxy to the Internet for the Windows machines on the Samba domain, a lot of the Windows PC's got virusses, and those virusses started placing themselves in the Shares on Samba.
So is there a AV package available for Suse/Linux that will prevent infected files from being downloaded? and also protect the Linus shares?

I use the free Avast Home anti-virus program on my only remaining Windows box. You do need to register to activate it. They have a Linux Home version too, but you may want to use the server version:
avast! 4 for Linux/Unix Servers Download
I don't know if this is free too, but if you are using it in a business environment, you may want to pay for it.Paul

ClamAV is the free solution for Windows file serving on a Linux machine; you'll have to set it up for on-access and Samba integration, but it does the job.
AVG has a Linux server version, but it's not free, just putting it out there.
Avast4! has a free Linux desktop client available, but not a server/on-access version; as with AVG, it costs money ($15/yr though, not a bad price). It is still the best choice for Windows clients though, imo.
