Virtual Box Kernel Module Choices - I am Puzzled

I am experimenting with Virtual Box on my OpenSuse 11.1 desktop.

When I check the following package to install in YaST - "virtualbox-ose", this package is also automatically checked - "virtualbox-ose-kmp-pae." The description for "virtualbox-ose-kmp-pae" is "This package contains the kernel-module for VirtualBox OSE." The following packages below also have the same description.

    virtualbox-ose-kmp-default
    virtualbox-ose-kmp-trace
    virtualbox-ose-kmp-vmi

YaST will also let me choose any of the above three additional packages instead of "virtualbox-ose-kmp-pae", but I have to choose one.

Why all the different kernel module choices for Virtual Box? Which one is best to use - the first choice (virtualbox-ose-kmp-pae) that comes up by default?

    Thanks.

It depends how much memory you intend to give the virtual machine. If you have a large memory system and intend to give the VM more than 3.5 GB RAM, then use the pae kernel. The pae kernel is also helpful to apparmor if you are using a hardware sharing (hvm) processor. If neither is the case, the default kernel is sufficient.

The other two kernels are specialized for issues like debugging, unless you have a specific need, don't worry about it.
