    updating clamav

    now am facing something real stranger from the webadmin console i see the below

    but from the command line when i run clamscan --version

    mx1:~ # clamscan --version
    ClamAV 0.95.1/8542/Thu Oct 30 17:23:43 2008
    mx1:~ #

    mx1:~ # freshclam
    ClamAV update process started at Wed May 6 08:41:36 2009
    main.cld is up to date (version: 50, sigs: 500667, f-level: 38, builder: sven)
    daily.cld is up to date (version: 9333, sigs: 48852, f-level: 42, builder: guitar)
    mx1:~ #

    but when i run clamd it shows

    mx1:~ # LibClamAV Warning: ************************************************** *********
    LibClamAV Warning: *** This version of the ClamAV engine is outdated. ***
    LibClamAV Warning: *** DON'T PANIC! Read Clam AntiVirus ***
    LibClamAV Warning: ************************************************** *********

    Now am confused because am getting a huge number of spams in my mail server can someone please help me out.

    freshclam is for updating the virus defination database.
    Your version 0.95.1 is up to date.

    The error is saying that your clam av engine is out dated not the database.
    have you upgraded that package?

    EDIT: for email server there are utilities like clamassassin, clam-smtp, mailscanner, spamassassin.
    Never make any misteaks.
