MFP Scanning Quality
I recently replaced all the Windows machines in my office with Linux, seeing that all of my hardware is now supported. Running 64bit OpenSuSe 11.1 with KDE 4 on both computers. My main scanning PC is an AMD dualcore x64 with 2GB RAM...
I scan a lot of photographs for people, sometimes from very small black and white originals, so I am used to scanning some pictures at up to 4800dpi in windoze, using a HP Officejet 6210 multi-function printer / scanner / fax / copier.
Now, since I've switched to Linux I found hplip 3.9.4b, Sane, Xsane, Digikam, Gwenview (kde3), Showfoto. I can print and scan correctly, but not at the quality I need. Right now I have a max scanning resolution of 600 dpi, but I really need to scan at LEAST 1200 dpi for enlarging 2"x2" or other small photos up to 8" x (10) 8"...
Is there a driver anywhere that can enable scanning with a officejet 6210 at over 600 dpi?? I assume it's a driver issue because I can only select up to 600 dpi scans in any of my graphics programs. Do I have any options?
