Click the voume control (looks like a speaker) select mixer the input. Make sure the mic control is live should have a red light at the bottom. Then select the switches section and make sure mic front input is on click light at top to toggle. You may also try the boost switch. If the Mic works any input should be echoed to the speakers.

    1) are you sure Mic works??

    2) some mic's require a batter to function properly with computers.

    3) You should be able to start the volume control (if not already running) from the Multimedia menu item. It should show up on the "Status Bar" and it looks like a speaker. I'm surprised it is not already running.
