The web application I use (Avantfax) allows faxes to be viewed within the browser in the application. I never have trouble opening up a PDF once it is downloaded. The trouble occurs when viewing the PDF within the application. This never happens on windows.

I think you are confusing things. It never happens with Adobe Reader on Windows is more to the point.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of mozplugger. There is a repo available from OpenSuse.org and I added it to YaST. Installing it was a breeze in YaST.

After installing mozplugger I read the man pages to get it set up. I removed Acroread from my system and now Okular takes over when viewing PDF's in FireFox 3.5. My only complaint with Okular over Reader at the moment is a slower load time to view PDF's inline. For example, when I click on a link to view one of the PDF faxes in my inbox, I notice a new window quickly opens and it appears Okular is loading then it disappears, and then the PDF is viewable inline in the fax application. I am going to try this out for a couple of weeks and see if the issue of the PDF blank screen occurs like it did with the Reader plugin.

So for now I have to decide what is better, slower load time and PDF's always viewable or faster load time with consistent unviewable PDF's after several viewings in Reader which requires me to reboot my system.

I have been using Mozplugger and Okular for about a week and it works great!! No PDF viewing issues on Linux FireFox with my PHP web app (Avantfax). At first I felt that Mozplugger/Okular was slower than Adobe Reader Linux Firefox plugin but I do not notice that anymore. My PDF viewing headaches (I have been struggling for over a year with this issue) in FireFox on Linux are now gone!! Thanks guys!!!
