Mouting external hard drive problem
I have just loaded Suse 11.1 and it won't mount my external hard drive. There are 4 partitions and formated NTFS. I really need to get to that information urgently. My Windows just kept collapsing which was a WinXP 32bit on a new 64bit comp and it just seemed to be stable. Suse at this present time seems to be the only stable Linux OS I have had on here.
Thats besides the point really I am rambling. I have tried to access a root file fstab as I was told to do in Dolphiine but it just won't allow me to adjust or add to the script.
/dev/sdg4/media/disk ntfs-3g force 0 0
Have you any advice how else I can tackle this as everything else seems to be brilliant - touch wood. Which is not what I normally say!!
Looking at this forum mounting does seem to be a problem many have

With KDE4, external devices are only mounted when you navigate to them via Dophin. Now this file manager has a few options to alter file view and additional useful panels that can be loaded. In particular (from menu):
View > Panels > Places (enable). You should see some icons appear, including any representing your external volume(s). Clicking on external volumes will cause them to mount.
FYI, two console useful commands for you:
fdisk -l (to list all partitions available)
mount (to show whats currently mounted)

Also to edit the fstab you must be root.
