    A quick google search indicates that it might reside in the /etc/apache* folder.

    Well... I already searched there and it's not. I guess it has been removed in newer version of apache.

    I did manage to solve the problem by editing the file:

    /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default

    and changing the lines containing /var/www, so they pointed to the folder I wanted as the root folder for the website.

    I hope this will help others having the same issue.
