    how to configure SMTP in suse linux

    hi all,
    i am very new to Linux.
    i have one application from this application i need to send mails.
    i need to provide SMTP server name/ip and port number to that application to send mails.
    before that i need to have one machine with SMTP settings in that.
    so can any one please let me how to do SMTP settings on suse Linux.
