    Tape Loader Device /dev/sgN is altering after each reboot

    Dear all,
    we are running SLES 11 where an iscsi tape library is
    attached. To load the tape in a slot we are using for
    instance the command #mtx -f /dev/sg1 load 2 which is doing
    very well.
    But after a server's reboot the device name of the loader is now
    /dev/sg4 or /dev/sg5 I mean it is dynamic. Is there any way to
    have a fixed device name for all times?

    THX for any solution!

    Hi xunil321
    Can you put the mount is the 'fstab' file on the server and perhaps thereby force it to sg1 every boot. Does 'mtx' have a force parameter? Maybe put a 'umount' of the /dev/sg1 in one of the shutdown scripts. Not sure which one I do not use SLES. Hope this helps in some way. Cheers...

    @robertdaleweir:

    It is a tape loader and not a iscsi disk. It cannot be mount via /etc/fstab
