opensuse 11.1 internet & network issuses
Hello All
I've never been a fan of Suse but until i tried the latest open suse 11.1 with KDE4.3.
This kde polished version of suse is real good and workin as kde corrected many bugs . Well comming to the point the insallation is neat but i'm not able to access internet with it .
I have an ADSL modem (external) connected to the ethernet interface.Surprisingly when i checked the systeminfo it showed no information about networking but "Networking : unknown."
I tried to create a dsl connection through YAST in the network section (DSL) but its askin for a package named smpppd(Dependencies).When i somehow downloaded and tried to install the rpm its asks for something called " libiw.so.29" another dependency.
Now i dont know where to start from . Googling gives me no approriate results .Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in Advance

What make/model is the adsl modem?
As a first try, look at the manufacturer's website.

just a comment. I use suse 11.1 and reach the internet with basic DSL from ATT. With ethernet connected during loading of the OS the automatic loader sees the internet and makes a connection. I have trouble making the on line connection if the ethernet is not present during loading of the OS. Also I have yet to accomplish a wireless connection. Could use some advice on that issue.

Did you try looking for the package through yast?
Yast --> Software Management
or go to Software.openSUSE.org and search for it for your version of opensuse
