    [SOLVED] Blank display

I just installed open suse 11.1. Installed ok but the one issue I have is after the suse splashscreen disappears the monitor display is blank. If I power cycle the monitor I get the kde desktop. This happens everytime I boot up or even if I attempt to change the resolution in YASM. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi and Welcome !

Which Graphics Card do you have? It looks like problem is with Monitor's Refresh Rates. Have you selected correct Monitor in Display settings?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Video card is an nvidia gforce 9500gt. Monitor is a syncmaster 2343. I installed the drivers for the monitor from the cd. I did not install drivers for the video card. The xorg.conf file is as follows:

    Section "Monitor"
    Option "CalcAlgorithm" "XServerPool"
    DisplaySize 340 270
    HorizSync 30-81
    Identifier "Monitor[0]"
ModelName "SYNCMASTER 2343BW/2343BWX SYNCMASTER MAGIC CX2343BW/CX2343BWX(DIGITAL)"
    Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024"
    VendorName "SAMSUNG"
    VertRefresh 56-60
    UseModes "Modes[0]"
    EndSection

    Section "Device"
    BoardName "GeForce 9500 GT"
    Driver "nv"
    Identifier "Device[0]"
    Screen 0
    VendorName "NVidia"
    EndSection

    Smile

I haav solved the problem. When I installed SUSE it had automatically detected the video card and installed the drivers. I thought nothing of it at the time. I decided to manually install the drivers for the card. Voilla!!
