    It's working now. I found instructions on how to use yast to install the software headers you mentioned and then I was able to compile the driver I got from the broadcom web site. Then it just autodected the network and voila. So thanks for your help. My mistake was as you said looking on kernel.org for the source code when it was right there on the SUSE installation cds.----WER

    Great, because I was running out of ideas. I wasn't aware the install cds had the necessary software. Good to know.

    Now that you've gone through all this work, I still think it's not a great idea to use an unsupported distro. Does this CA Directory software support RHEL5, by any chance? (Most enterprise software supports some version of Red Hat.) If so, you might fair better with a Red Hat clone like Scientific Linux, that is still supported.
