Flash demuxer plugin in SUSE 11.1

    Hello Everybody,

I tired to play Totem but it says it is missing the "Flash demuxer". I am not yet well versed in SUSE on how to get this so once again, I am requesting for some help regarding the matter.

    Thank you in advance!

Make sure you have the following installed
    gstreamer0.10-good-plugins
    gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins
    gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins
    gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg

    Hello,

As I was trying to make Banshee (Video) & Totem work in my SUSE 11.1, it brought me to a site where I have to buy at 28 Euros. All that money to make mpeg 4 play for me is something I cannot afford for now.

I was able to make it run with my other distros for free.

In fairness I know they have also some overhead to think of. But may I ask is there is a way I can make Banshee & Totem work without having to spend?

OR....if there other players I can install in my SUSE that offers free plugins? I would really appreciate the help. I think that would be best.

FYI, my Totem in my Fedora & Mint actually works fine.

    Cheers!

EDIT: By the way, Banshee MP3 plays pretty well. Its on the video I am having a little trouble.

I assume it's probably the fluendo store you're referring to.

In some countries like the US, it may not be legal to use software for patent-encumbered multimedia. This is a legal way to get codecs. But it isn't required to pay to get the right codecs. I'm sure you're just missing some needed package. Did you check that you've installed everything I mentioned above. Totem and Banshee both use gstreamer as a backend, so it's most likely a gstreamer plugin you're missing.

Since you are new you might not know that you normally install software via
    Yast-Software-Software Management.

Be sure that the guru repository is included in your repository links. This will get you things that are not available on Suse's.

If you have questions please ask.

Yes I was able to install the first three. However, with the ffmpeg, I was brought to the site above. I wonder how can I install the third one without going through the site? Thanks

    Hello gogalthorp,

May I ask how to include guru repos in my repository links please?

    Thanks!

Did you do it with Yast?? I never heard of a repository taking you to a web site.

    Helo again.

When I try to play a downloaded youtube video (flv) banshee would give me this error report:

"Search for a Suitable Codec? The required software is not installed ...Do you want t search..."

When I ckick on OK it brings me to the site mentioned.

I was able to use yast >software>software management and was able to install the first three items. Afterwhich, I tried to play a video again and got the same error message above. And when I click on OK, it brings me again the the site. Actually to a SUSE site that points me to Fluendo.

    Thanks

EDIT: By the way, I was able to install vlc using yast. Its working pretty well but I desire my totem and banshee to also work properly
