On my old Nokia phone, I ended up using Gammu/Wammu

It didn't originally have support for my phone, a 2125i. (The model info was found under the battery.) I had to modify the source to add my model, because it was similar to existng models, it was easy. I then had to compile the application. I did get some help from the gammu mailing list on this.
I still had to use the terminal command version, as the GUI still wouldn't work with my phone. Hopefully your phone has better support.Paul
