    Can't get Live CD To boot up

    So I've recently scrapped togehter a computer to use for running openSUSE, and I've downloaded the Live CD, as well as the full DVD. Whenever I turn on the machine with either, I get the DISK BOOT FAILURE error. I've made sure that it boots first from CDROM drive, and verified all of hte wiring, but I can't see to get this to boot up. I've heard its possible it's just an issue that the motherboard doesn't want to run it, but are there other things to do to test it out?

    Hello ;
    why don't you try to run a live CD from a memory stick instead .
    you can run many linux dist. using a live usb stick, make sure usb is on the boot sequence before hd.
    This will help you eliminate the possibility CD/DVD drive issues if any;

    use the application : linux live usb creator, ( contact me for link as I can't post it here )

    this application will help you create the usb and make it bootable.

    Gluck !

    I was able to get it to boot off a USB drive, hwoever when it boots it says SYSLINUX and then spams
    boot:
    Could not find kernel image: gfxboot

    I'm assuming I need to go into a text-only boot, but how do I go about doing so?

    You must create the CD by burning the ISO image. Don't just copy thr ISO file to the CD/DVD. Most burning software as the option to burn an ISO image

    It was burnt as an ISO, the disks all booted up fine on another computer

    Double check the BIOS to make sure that the CD is the first boot device. I assume there is no OS on the HD.

    You also might check the cabling. Are the devices SATA or just ATA ie a flat cable. If ATA be sure that you do not have two master devices on the same cable.

    Ensured that the CD drive is the first in boot order. Also even unplugged HD to make sure CD drive is the only drive that's running of S(ATA), one cable hooked right into it.
