[SOLVED] Basic installation question - Opensuse 11.2

    Hi,
After I burn the DVD image, I put the disc on the computer and boot. The installation screen appears, the acknowledgement screen appears, then the installation checks my system and gives me a yast window with an error about something related to URLs and repositories. I cannot continue with the installation.

I am 100% new at this and thought it would be as easy as installing ubuntu (which I installed on a laptop and works flawlessly).

I am trying distros and opensuse is compatible with my video card right out of the box apparently, so that's why I chose it for my desktop.

Do I need to copy the dvd image to the hard disk of the computer I want to install opensuse on, and use the dvd to boot as well?
    Thanks.

No, the installation should work right off the installation DVD that you've booted from.

Is this a liveDVD that you are using? Also, can you post the error message regarding the repos?

Someone said that I need to be connected to the internet to install opensuse. The PC that I want to install it on is wireless, so I am not connected until I configure the wireless adapter. Is this true?
The DVD that I am using is the one I downloaded from opensuse.org, the 4.7GB DVD
I'll post the error message later once I get home to try again.
    Thanks!

You should be able to install without the Internet but it is much better if you do have a connection since the install will update any packages needing updating.

Can you temporarily connect by wire just for the install?

Do not select additional repository option then select skip if you get the question again.

The problem was the media. The disc I got now is fine, I'll try tonight.
