Add-on manager (newbie) rdesktop, sever 2008

hi i've searched the forums and haven't found anyting, so i'm posting. Linux SuSe 10. not sure of exact version. The remote desktop will not connect to windows server 2008. I'm assuming that i need to update rdesktop. So i go the Novell Add-on manager and point it to my ftp server with the extracted rdesktop files in the driectory. I can see the linux desktop accessing the folder with the files but a get an error. How do i install the new rdesktop using ftp and the Novell Add-on manager? it seams that the add-n manager is lookikng for a file listing the add-ons.
    thanks

you should be able to just install this from source, i don't think it has many or any dependencies

rdesktop: A Remote Desktop Protocol client

ok, thanks. i'm familiar with that site. I can can get the files extracted on to a usb flash drive from a windows machine. then i can see the mounted flash drive on the linux machine but i don't know how to switch to that device. cd something? righ? I also don't see a specific name for the flash drive.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. even if there is an easier way to be able to connect to a windows server 2008 machine.
    thanks

well most of the time when you put a USB or CD in it gets automounted somewhere under /media so you should CD into there and use ls command and figure out which one is the USB drive

I've got the dell optiplex fx160 flashed with the latest image from th dell website. The new image uses rdesktop 1.5.0. I still can't connect to a windows 2008 terminal server.
I figured out how to use the Novell Add-on manager successfullly via FTP. I do a google search for rdesktop 1.6.0 as an rpm. I've downloaded and tried to install a couple rdesktop 1.6.0 rpm's, the Novell Add-on manager finds the rpm starts to install and then says its not a valid Thin Client application. Please help Guru's! how do i get connected to a windows 2008 terminal sever from a linux suse enterprise thin client OS.
    thanks

you need to install 1.6 in order to have support for server 2008

i'm not familiar with suse thin client, but try here RPM Search and search for rdesktop-1.6.0 there are a bunch for suse

as i mentioned before, you can always compile from source

The problem seems to be with this Novell addon manager. I'm not familiar with it. It must be something that is packaged in the Enterprise version. So you need to get support from Novell.
