Sound problems in OpenSuSE 11.2 (KDE)

    Hi guys,
recently following the discussion here http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/sus...up-webcam.html I have installed OpedSuSE 11.2.

After that i started having some strange sound issues - if I log in as root the sound works perfectly, but as a normal user I don't have any sound at all. My sound card is listed in the device list in YaST but still doesn't perform.

When I try to reconfigure the card with alsaconf I get a message that "No legacy drivers are availiable".

    Here's the output from lspci:
    Code:
    linux-svh3:/home/cherep # lspci

At the same time this sound test works fine:

    Code:

And now it's getting even better.... I tried to logout from current session and log in as root to check why the sound actually works for root but when in runlevel 3 I enter root as the login I get a message "login is incorrect" WTF??!! It worked perfectly just a few minutes ago....

Sounds like maybe a bad install. Did you do a media check?

    What sound card? Which desktop?

the Alsaconf no longer seems to work. For me I had sound straight off and did not need to do anything.
