I see from the subject that you're using openSuSE 11.3. You are aware that 11.3 is a beta version, not a stable version, aren't you? As such, it likely contains problem code and programs. I'm using it for doing beta testing on my hardware and have found several bugs.
Since you're a new user (I assume from your message), you would be better off using a stable version such as 11.2. That should find your network hardware and supply the appropriate drivers.
For further help, please post with information such as output of the following commands (as root or su):
Also, the contents of /etc/resolve.conf. /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0 and how you're trying to bring the network up, NetworkManager or ifup.Code:uname -a iwconfig wlan0 (or whatever your system uses)
