Unable to install any packages in Opensuse 11.3
Running 11.3 on an Acer aspire 2920 laptop. OS is up and running as are other applications. I have been trying to install a .wmv player (for CBT), (kaffeine, MPlayer, VLC) and also crossover for linux. In all cases I get "Installation of package xxxxx rpm failed".
The system downloads without problem but the issue appears to be on the actual installation side.
Any ideas ? and many thanks for any help.

David I'm not a Suse guru by any stretch of imagination but got my OpenSuse 11.3 working pretty well so far.
How are you trying to install these Apps? Are you using the Add/remove Applications?
I followed this tutorial to install the Apps I wanted. It talks you through adding lots of repositories which aren't selected by default. Give it a go and post if you're still having issues.

Many thanks Both,
11.3 has been working fine and I have a number of applications already installed. I`m not sure whats happening here but over the past few days, I`ve tried to install ClamAV, Codeweavers Crossover, various players for .wmv files (from CBT), and I`ve also tried to do it from a direct download, RPM and from Software management etc.... nothing seems to be working.
Worst case is that I start the whole thing again but I`d like to get an idea of whats likely to be causing the problem...

If you install direct from an RPM then you must supply the dependencies. For a beginner it is best that they use Yast-Software Management (GUI) or zypper (command line) to install from repositories. At least until the understand how to resolve dependencies themselves.
If you have a particular problem with a package please post the errors you get. Saying it is broken does nothing to help solve the problem. My crystal ball is broken.
