    Unhappy mousepad problem in openSuse 11.3

    hi all,

    my acer aspire 5738 was working full blast on 11.2. i upgraded to 11.3 from a dvd and my laptop mousepad does not respond to the tap for click function. the left and right mouse buttons are working fine though. rest all functions and hardware is working well.

    please help.

    Pure guess

    Since you upgraded and did not do a fresh install I suspect that you have an old xorg.conf file left from the previous install. Try renaming /etc/X11/xorg.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.prev or something else any how. You will need to be root. The xorg configuration is done totally differently now.

    there is no xorg.conf file in /etc/X11

    I tried the live CD of KDE 11.3 and the mouse pad didn't work for me either. What I did was click on the Lizard and then searched for touchpad and set up the config. Presto it worked. I don't use Gnome, so if you are using Gnome, I suppose that Alt+F2 in the runner would work the same way. type in touchpad and you should see the touchpad app you can play with. It may be under Yast too. So open Yast and type touchpad in the search.
