    OpenSUSE still used rpm packages the last time I used it. It worked really well with the internet, too. Cable modems connected through a router should be no issue, but I have no idea if it will work on your system without any issues. If everything is configured properly, you should be fine.

    The best way to find out for sure is to try it and see what happens.

    It's RPM based w/ zypper as the update manager. Go grab an Live CD and try it out to see if finds everything. I had no problems w/ it on my HP G60.
