Can't connect to the Internet SUSE 11.2 11.3
I run various Linux distros from live CDs DVDs and here is my problem:
Can't connect to the Internet with any Linux distro except CentOS 5.5 (in my hard drive), Scientific Linux (both based on RHEL 5), BackTrack 3 and PC-BSD. Everything else just won't work. Even BackTrack 4 refuses to connect because they based it on Debian.
My ISP is BellSouth (AT&T) and they do not support Linux.
There was a time when I was able to connect to the Internet by using bridged ethernet and that was I think in SUSE 10/Fedora 9 but I guess BellSouth (AT&T) changed something and that is not possible any more. I was really impressed how good SUSE handled Flash and multimedia at that time.
I want to install SUSE 11.3 in my hard drive because although I managed to install Flash and multimedia in CentOS I don't like the way it handles it. It is enterprise OS after all.
I get network tables/data by typing 192.168.1.254 in my browser (does work only in the above mentioned distros that get Internet connection).
Hope someone here will know what was changed from SUSE 10 to 11 in network manager and what is difference in way RHEL, BackTrack 3, PC-BSD and other distros connect to the Internet.
Want to thank in advance for any reply.
HP laptop CoreDuo 32bit 1.73 - 2GB RAM - Seagate hard drive 250 GB.
I tried to put network data manually but whatever values I put in it won't connect.
I use wired Internet connection.

Have you turned off IVP6 many ISP still don't support it and it is now the default on many OS.

192.168.1.254 is probably your NAT router - which is connected to the internet.
Your problem narrows down connecting to the router, most likely NIC driver problem. What's the PCI ID of your card?

lspci will get you the PCI device list.

ethernet controller:Realtek - I use always only wired connection but it seems to me that can't be recognized at least I am sure in that for Dreamlinux - just can't find it - probably SUSE and others too can't recognize it.
Dreamlinux can see hidden wireless networks (probably neighbours wireless networks) but just can't find eth0.

A quick Google reveals people are having problems with this card, most notable one seems to be when this card is used in a Windows box after Windows shutdown Linux is unable to use it.

I will check but it should work - it does work with RHEL, BackTrack3 and PC-BSD out of the box.
I noticed that all Debian based systems are impossible to run.
Any way thanks a lot buddy.

Well, the thing here is drivers come with kernel. Kernel is the same for all distros. Sure, some distros use patches which are not included in mainstream kernel, but these patches should not affect your NIC driver.
Probably it's down to kernel version they've used.
