    Post information about the computer hardware you are using. RAM, graphics card, etc.
    Were you ever able to boot successfully after installation?
    Is Opensuse the only operating system on the computer? If not, what else do you have?

    What is the specs on your motherboard (name, model, etc)? Do you have a 6 Gb/S SATA drive in there by some chance? Looks like the controller of that board may not be compatible with Linux yet. Try putting the drive on a different controller. One that you know is 3G/S.

    see Big Bang Xpower with openSUSE 11.2 from Marvell 6 Gb/s SATA port?

    This is how I determined a driver issue.

    Post the output of fdisk -l command here.
    Code:
    su -
    fdisk -l
    * It's small L in fdisk -l.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    you can also use sudo so you don't have to be root but you need specific path to command ie:

    Code:
    sudo /sbin/fdisk -l

    Are you sure that sudo is pre-configured for all Users in OpenSUSE?
    I know that sudo isn't pre-configured in Fedora. I haven't used OpenSuSe for a long time.
