    WOL does not work :-(

    Hey there,

I'm currently trying to set up WakeOnLan on my OpenSuse Server. I've got a "ga-m55s-s3" Mainboard with an onboard network card.
    What I've done till now:

Enabled PME Event Wake Up in the bios settings
    Set ACPI mode to S3/STR
ethtool -s eth0 wol g saved as a script and called it in the icfg-eth0 as POST_DOWN_SCRIPT

I tried to wake my pc with the windows tool "Fusion WOL".

First I have the general question if I should shutdown my linux server or just set it to seep ?
I tried both though but I just want to know if it should work if I shutdown my server completly or just if I set it to sleep.

    Thanks in Advance

Okay I gut a step further ... it works with direct connection with only one cable. So I guess there's a problem with my router. Since WOL works with Broadcast shout I tried to ping 192.168.2.255 but i get timeouts. Should I be able to ping this broadcast adress ?
