No usb no sd make homer something something

I recently updated to OpenSUSE 11.3 and now when i plug in my flash drive or my sd card nothing happens. When I was on 11.0 I just plugged in my flash drive and it would show up on my desktop, now I got nothin'. The sd would open up in f-spot but not anymore. I'm not too smart so I'm pretty sure it's something simple that the all powerful geniuses in the linux community can fix so HELP! I am running in gnome on an emachines w3609 with intel devices if that helps.

Upgrading from 11.0 to 11.3 is not recommended. There were too many changes made. Do a fresh install.

I'm running in Gnome. I tried to add the disk mounter to my panel, but all it shows is my dvd drive. I'm not sure if maybe there is something in yast that I have not installed but I never had to with any previous distro's. I am still able to plug my cell phone into the usb charger, and when i plug an sd card in, the light on my computer comes on, but nothing is mounting. When I go to the drive through my file system it will not open.

open a console as root and do

    Code:
    tail -f /var/log/messages
this hit Enter a few times to make some blank spaces so it's easier to see and then plug in the sd card in and see if anything scrolls by, it so paste it here.
