sound problem

For some reason I everytime I try to play a mp3 file, whether it is in amarok, audacity, rosegarden, vlc, or anything, the file loads but i cannot get it to play. When i try to play it the progress bar doesn't move at all. Crazy things that it was not like this a few weeks ago. I can watch youtube, hulu, avi's dvds, etc. But when i try to play just mp3 it won't . Any ideas on what might have caused this or what I can do to fix it?

I am currenty using opensuse 11.2

What repos do you have active??

zypper lr -d

I suspect you have mixed codac versions
