    Updating gnuplot

I have an older Suse system (10.2, works fine) which also has an older gnuplot
in it. It lacks some features I need now, so I want to update it. I downloaded a
zip file with many files and it's not clear to me (to put it mildly) how to install it,
and whether it will replace the old one or put itself somewhere else.

I once used an rpm file for something, and that was very easy; so my question
is, is there an rpm file for the latest gnuplot?

Most likely what you got is a source file which you would need to compile. Instruction should be in the file in a file called something like readme.

It would help to know the exact name and where you got it. If it is source you need to compile it this may require additional libraries but your OS being so old makes finding stuff an adventure and in any case newer programs and libraries may not work with older OS's/kernels and other parts of the stack. OpenSUSE 11.4 is about to be released in a week or 3. Your 5 versions behind.
