    Suse 11.3 Repositories

    Hi All,
I took the plunge and have installed Suse 11.3 with the aim of replacing my windows machine entirely.
I previously have used Ubuntu, but I like the Suse interface and integration of open office a lot better. The only thing I have a problem with is that the repositories installed on the system do not match the amount in Ubuntu.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good repositories.

Also I installed VLC but am having difficulties getting it to play avi files, presumably it is a codec problem. Could someone point me to a good codec package.

I really love Suse, Im a windows convert. previously the only thing holding me back was some of the scientific programs I run like Chemdraw. Managed to get these to work through crossover so ready to make the complete switch.

You can install packages using the one click installers from software.opensuse.org and find extra repositories here.

    Thank you soo soo much
Im really loving Suse, it is not windows so it takes getting used to. I was surprised that the GUI feels a lot nicer than windows 7. Ubuntu is nice but I really prefer the KDE Suse interface.

I just realized that Packman made an edit. The new path is

    http://packman.unixheads.com/suse/openSUSE_11.3/

They added the "openSUSE_" part and reorganized the tree. I'm not sure when this took effect, some time in the last month or so...

In YAST, choose the software repositories item and click add. Select the community option and click next for a whole list

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
