OpenSUSE 11.4 and printing
I just installed 11.4 and can't seem to get my printer working. That kind of makes this OS worthless to me. I have tried installing the drivers everything pointed to on the web but no luck. I have an HP Officejet 4110 all-in-one. Luckily I have Ubuntu on my pc also, which has no problem printing. I do like 11.4 and wish I could get it to function properly.

Is the printer showing at all in your opensuse - ie if you print a document do you see the printer but it doesn't work?
Or is it just not there?
If you open Yast>Hardware>Printer and click 'Add' Yast should find and configure the printer. It occasionally needs a little help with the driver.
You can also instal HPLIP which can configure HP printers.Pete

Success
Thanks for making me think about it. I had installed hplip and the printer was showing up in Yast but apparently I needed to reconfigure the printer before it would work, which I did and now it prints.
Thanks again

I'm glad I was able to offer some help. I'm a big fan of openSUSE so I'd hate for you to give up on it!

Just as a future hint too, sometimes the YaST interface just doesn't work for installing certain scanners and printers. In this case, you can invoke CUPS directly with your browser at http://localhost:631/ . From the web interface you can install and manage your printers. Real handy for dealing with jobs.
