really dont know what to do
Hi there,
My friend bougth new laptop (compaq presario cq 56) and asked me to install win xp on it because he taught that there is no system installed.
When i turned on the computer, it started linux suse enterprise desktop installation.
I aborted the process couple of times trying to find a way to get in comand promt and format c drive. Every process abortion would end with turning off the computer.
I also tried to press F2 or del in order to find bios. Insted, I found recovery option and ran it. I aborted this process also and got what i needed( the command promt option "press any key to boot from cd".
I inserted xp disc and installation began with loading some drivers. After it finished loading drivers beautiful message appeard "prepereing to start windows".
After that start my nightmare. Screen is blue with error message and no options: "if you see this error frst time, restart computer".
Any similar expiriances?.....any advice would be apriciated...
Thanks in advance
Marko

The only connection I can think is that sometimes Windows has issues recognizing harddrives that aren't formatted to NTFS or FAT/FAT32. So you may want to format the HD before installing Windows.
That said, what you describe doesn't sound like the error I've gotten from the above. Just sounds like Windows being Windows and nothing to do with SUSE having been installed on the machine.

Hi reed9,
thank you for your response....
you're right...it was nothing to do with suse....the partitions was formated as ext3 and windows couldn't recognised it...
i delited partitions using suse and successfully installed windows....
Thanks anyway
Marko
