xorg conf? VGA on splitter cable not recognizing max resolution
Hi all,
I am running SUSE Enterprise Thin Client 11 on a WYSE thin client. I am trying to run a widescreen monitor-dvi along with a regular touchscreen-vga. Both are connected using a WYSE compatible splitter that is DVI to one DVI out and one vga out.
The issue is that whichever is connected to the vga portion of the splitter, the proper resolutions will not be offered. I believe it maxes out at 1024x768.

I am new at editing xorg conf files and treading cautiously with it. How does the cable relate to the settings in the x file? Is it another monitor device that is enumerated so maybe it should be Device1? When plugging a vga converter into the dvi port, it will find the resolution options fine. So I think I need to figure out how to specify more resolutions for an unknown monitor type to get this to work for me.

I guess what I would need to know is how to identify where the resolution options for UNKNOWN monitor are specified.
Edit: If I understand correctly, these DVI/VGA splitter cables have a vga passthrough on the DVI end connecting to the video card. So I put a vga to dvi converter on a monitor then plug in to the dvi port and it detects monitor fine. I put a dvi monitor on the dvi end of the splitter cable and it detects fine. When I put a vga monitor onto the 2nd end of the splitter cable it will not detect the vga monitor. I don't understand where the problem lies but if I can find which file holds the default resolutions offered to an UNKNOWN monitor I will be able to get around it and move on.
