Hi, I just get laptop with linux open suse 11 and I dont understand anything. As i was searching web I ve read that program Wine can open programs for windows on linux. So I am wondering how to install it.

Hello and Welcome!
You should have something in your System menus called YAST.
That's your Package Manager.
You'll be able to install Wine from there.
Another way to do it would be to open a Terminal Window (kind of like a Windows command prompt).
Type su - and hit Enter. Type your root or Admin password.
Use the commandYour computer will do the rest.Code:zypper install wine

I found that GNOME Terminal and when I start it there is written this:
myPCname*@localhost:~> (here i wrote) su
password: And this is it I am unable to press any key except enter, so i cant type my password need help with that too

When you enter a password in a terminal windows, it doesn't print anything on the screen.
That's a security feature. Just trust us... when you type, it's going into the system.Jay

it works that way
but another problem
i wrote zypper install wine
and then i got:
refreshing service `nu_novel_com`.
reading installed packages...
`wine` not fined.
resolving package dependencies...
nothing to do.

I've never used openSUSE, so I don't know if there are other software sources or repos to add.
Perhaps a SUSE user will chip in with some info.Jay
