snmpd acting wack in SUSE 10?

    Hi there,
    I am currently running net-snmp-
the service starts, fine then stops sporadically:

    srv01:/var/run # netstat -tunap | grep -i snmpd
    tcp 0 0* LISTEN 10281/snmpd
    udp 0 0* 10281/snmpd

I found this link explaining the problem aka solution: However I cannot post it as I have not made 15 posts or more grrrr!

Which explains the problem however cause I am a noob I am having trouble translating it.

He is basically (from my understanding) saying there is a socket binding the to same port using agentx?

    srv01:/var/run # snmpd -f -Le
Duplicate IPv4 address detected, some interfaces may not be visible in IP-MIB
    could not open /proc/net/if_inet6
[init_smux] bind failed: Address already in use
    Error opening specified endpoint "udp:161"
    Server Exiting with code 1

    srv01:/var/run # netstat -a | grep -i agentx
    unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 6499423 /var/agentx/master

In the end again (from my understanding)

    he is running : /usr/sbin/snmpd -x /var/agentx/master

to exclude agentx from taking the port or socket..?

Also he says it's bound on port 705? I cannot find this..

    Can anyone please assist?
