No Desktop just terminal Suse 11.4

I have recently upgraded to Suse 11.4 from 11.3 After adding the pacman repositories I then logged out of my session by mistake. Now when I reboot I get the Suse green background with a white terminal. As a KDE desktop user, not knowing any code at all, can anyone sugest a way back to the desktop?
    Thanks.

After some research I used the "startkde" command in the terminal. This starts my KDE desktop session, but leaves a terminal on top of the desktop. If I close the terminal the KDE session also closes!
    Any help gratefully received.

    Though I don't run Suse.

    Code:
    startx
Does not give you a login window like KDM? I run slim login manager with Icewm Desktop so I won't be of much help.
