Install Linux OpenSuse 12.1 on second hard drive

I'm fairly new to computers got my first one in 2009, I've been studying IT Network Administration full time nearly 2 years and want to change over to Linux. The problem is I'm not ready to fully abandon Windows yet. I just installed a second hard drive and deleted all the data using windows7 but have not yet formatted it.
Is there anything I need to do to get a choice of operating systems at startup

    Hi and Welcome !

You don't have to do something special for dual boot setup. Just set second Hard disk as Primary and install OpenSUSE in it. Installer will detect Windows OS installed in other disk and setup dual boot itself.

You can create partition structure for Linux before starting installation or let installer create it itself.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
